Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect and prevent spam.
An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible publicly in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from such images if it is present.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is for your convenience so you don’t have to fill in your details again when leaving another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, several cookies are set to save your login information and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen option cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, a cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply contains the post ID of the edited article. It expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content behaves the same way it would as if you visited the source website directly.
These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content — especially if you are logged in to their service.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the password reset email for verification and security.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This helps us recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically, instead of placing them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on the website (if available), we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have submitted. You may also request the erasure of any personal data we hold, except for data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be screened through an automated spam detection service to ensure the safety and integrity of the site.
